Paks Industrial Park Ltd. was founded on June 17, 1997, by the Municipality of Paks with the aim of stimulating the inflow of working capital through the construction of industrial park utility development, operation and development capacities as one of the custodians of local and regional economic development.

The industrial area adjacent to the Paks Nuclear Power Plant on the southern outskirts of the city, bordering the Danube and main road No. 6, underwent continuous development in the early 2000s. Several domestic and foreign companies chose the industrial park for their premises. The construction of the M6 motorway opened up further prospects for the development of the industrial park, which already had 20 companies with 400 employees in 2010.

On February 12, 2014, the Government of Hungary and the Government of the Russian Federation concluded an agreement on the maintenance of the capacity of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant, the design, construction and commissioning of two new nuclear power plant blocks.

The agreement made the implementation of the infrastructural facilities necessary for the investment an obligation of the Hungarian Party. For this purpose, the 100% share of Paks Industrial Park Ltd. became the property of the Hungarian State on December 18, 2017, and in reference to the emerging regional development tasks, the Company changed its name to PIP Central Danube Regional Development Nonprofit Ltd.

In addition to the operation of the industrial park, the execution and support of the project developments necessary for the implementation of the Paks II investment, the implementation and coordination of activities related to housing, infrastructure development, business development, industrial park development, and regional and territorial development became the main tasks of the Company.

The preparation of public utilities, new electrical network, water supply and sewage systems; or the increase of the existing capacities, the provision of industrial hall properties suitable for warehousing and industrial activities, are planned in accordance with the aspects of post-utilization.

The aim of PIP Nonprofit Ltd. is to create a key economic zone in the city and in the region for companies wishing to settle down by creating new industrial areas in addition to the existing ones, renovating existing industrial properties and building new ones. The ever-expanding industrial park currently has more than 40 mostly small and medium-sized enterprises with nearly 3000 employees.
