A new road section that will connect the port to the construction site was handed over as part of the Paks II investment’s internal road network.

On August 24, 2022, the handover ceremony of road No. 2 took place with the participation of Dr. Kálmán Horváth, Lord-lieutenant of the Tolna County Government Office, Zoltán Szántó, Deputy Mayor of Paks, and Csaba Gyöngyösi, Managing Director of PIP Nonprofit Ltd. The leaders all emphasized that the road section is of outstanding importance for the construction of the nuclear power plant. In the course of the implementation of the Paks II. project, a significant amount of materials, equipment and structures will have to be assembled and delivered in the preparation, construction and then during the operational phase. The reception of such materials, equipment and structures at the construction site – due to its logistical and security requirements – can only be ensured smoothly with precise timing and excellent organization.

The implementation of the first section of road No. 2 consisted of the renovation of an approximately 300-meter-long connecting road section, the construction of a roundabout and a 1,120-meter-long heavy-duty transport road.

The 10-meter-wide transport road can handle trucks, passenger cars, minibuses, as well as bus traffic, and vehicles with a maximum axle load of up to 11.5 tons required for the construction of the Paks II. investment.

Along with the construction of the road section, water construction, telecommunications, public lighting, water supply, and sewerage works were also carried out. The second section of road No. 2 will start from the 2nd exit of the spiral roundabout and will lead to the port.

Direct transport will be ensured from the port to the Paks II. construction site once the road is completed.
